Set of 6 Ernest Race Antelope Chairs England C1960-80.
a pair of Ernest Race Antelope Chairs England C1960-80.
An unusual set of six of the iconic Antelope chair designed by Ernest Race, one of the first pieces of British furniture to achieve medal recognition at the renowned Salone di Mllano in 1953. These chairs appear to have have been professionally repainted during their lifetime giving them a black finish that shows through in places the historical layers of colour on their steel base. This makes them a particularly striking set in our opinion. The brass ball feet, which are characteristic of the original models are completely intact on all but one piece which has had its front feet replaced. In great, solid condition for use around a dining or meeting table in an interesting contemporary space.
