Set of 3 red Absinthe tip saucers. Marked 5F
Set of 3 red Absinthe tip saucers. 5F
A nice set of antique French Absinthe tip saucers or plates. They are thick white porcelain from the late 19th century. They are all trimmed in red with a fine black line and a 5F mark. The saucers are the original matching trio which is unusual to find.
These saucers were used in the bistros to deliver Absinthe or other drinks. Each saucer was marked with the amount in Francs for the drink ordered.
Very charming things. We use them as soap dishes at the Mint in Rye.
We have others available please ask.
