Late 18th Century Oak Grain Measure with Primitive Make-do Handle
TMIR000506 Late 18th Century Oak Grain Measure with Primitive Make-do Handle
A stunning large oak grain measure with a historically attached primitive handle. Of Shaker-style construction with the large lap joint having bevelled edges and two rows of nails. It has an original strengthening band around the base which is similarly lap jointed.
With nice medullary rays visible in the wood and a fantastic colour, this is a beautifully aged piece. There is an original strengthening wooden band around the base - which is also lap jointed in a similar fashion. At some point the original base board has been supported with a plastic strip however this is not visible from the top or side, only is the piece is turned upside down.
A stunning and practical piece for a modern rustic home.
