A pair of immaculate Georgian Scottish cow horn caddy spoons

  • A pair of immaculate Georgian Scottish cow horn caddy spoons

These are unusual due to the fact there is a pair. They are generally found as single pieces. These items were carved from cow horns in Scotland. They were historically carved by Gypsy travellers who would de-horn cattle on farms in exchange for land for the evening and they were also allowed to keep the horns. They would then turn the horns into trinkets to sell.

The craftsmanship is fantastic. The primitive carving is charming.

They are in overall immaculate condition for their age with a lovely patina and almost no cracking and wear. Very usable.
