A pair of Guignol puppets belonging to Pierre Klemczynski
A pair of Guinol puppets belonging to Pierre Klemczynski.
These Guinol puppets belonged to the French artist Peirre Klemczynski (1910-1991). They were purchased directly from his chateau just outside Beaune in Burgundy. Guinol puppets are a bit like a French Punch and Judy. Klemczynski specialised in painting still lifes and many include sets of guinol puppets.
They have been mounted onto iron stands and look great as decorative items.
These are in charming condition with historic repairs and have been well used. The family obviously enjoyed many performances.
