    A complete set of New Excursions into English Poetry. Printed by Frederick Muller, London 1944-1947. First Editions (first printings) of the W.J.Turner and Sheila Shannon edited series of verse anthologies. Each is magnificently illustrated in full colour lithographs by a different artist. These artists include. Edward Bawden, John Piper, John Craxton, Mona Moore, Micheal Ayrton, William Scott and Robert Colquhoun.

    This collection is getting harder and harder to come by. The lithographs themselves are exceptionally beautiful. A great addition to any collector of poetry or indeed of mid century British artists.

    1) "English Scottish and Welsh Landscape 1700-c. 1860." (1944). Chosen by John Betjeman and Geoffrey Taylor and illustrated with twelve amazing full page colour lithographs by Piper, prepared especially for this publication, plus another reproduced double-spread on the covers. Neat FEP owners mark on front endpaper. Minus dustjacket.

    2) "The Poet's Eye; or Visionary Poems and Passages" (1944). Verses chosen by Geoffrey Grigson with sixteen original colour lithographic plates by John Craxton, prepared especially for this publication, plus two more reproduced on the covers, and a series of line drawings in the text. Neat FEP date to front endpaper. With Dustjacket.

    3) "Sea Poems" (1944). Chosen by Myfanwy Piper who also provides an introduction, and with sixteen original colour lithographs by Mona Moore. plus another reproduced double-spread on the covers. With Dustjacket.

    4) "Soldiers Verse" (1945). Chosen by Patric Dickinson with sixteen original colour lithographs by William Scott prepared especially for this publication, plus another reproduced double-spread on the covers. Neat FEP owners mark to the front end paper. Minus Dustjacket.

    5) "Poems Of Death" (1945). Chosen by Phoebe Pool with eleven original colour lithographs by Michael Ayrton prepared especially for this publication, plus another reproduced double-spread on the covers. Minus Dustjacket.
